Outstanding Young Golfer Returns to the Fairways

Molly Campbell, an 11-year old golfing star,  from Long Eaton, near Nottingham,  is finally back in her happy place after golf courses were reopened to the public and she was reunited with her father who had displayed COVID-19 symptoms and had been separated from Molly while he self-isolated

Pre pandemic, Molly’s coach was predicting the 2020 season would further improve her standing after a spectacular 2019 saw her capture multiple open competitions. She won the Derbyshire Schools Strokeplay in April, then in September, played against a 17-year-old boy in the final, to win the Derbyshire Schools Matchplay Championship. Molly claimed this win with a brilliant 3 and 2 victory after holing a sensational putt on the 16th hole and became the youngest person to win both tournaments in the same year.

COVID-19 has been especially tough for Molly.  Not only did she lose the chance to compete in her beloved game, but was forced to live apart from her Dad, when he began exhibiting Coronavirus symptoms and had to self-isolate for 14 days. This was heart-wrenching for Molly as he is a constant in her life and does everything with her.  But after a very unsettled period, Molly’s strength and maturity came to the fore and with the help of FaceTime to witness the improvement in her Dad’s condition, she battled through her angst and was soon reunited with him.

Molly, who says,  “losing golf was like losing a major part of her life”, has adapted very well to the challenging times of COVID-19,  juggling home-schooling, face-timing her friends and setting up a makeshift  ‘Golf Net’ in her back garden to practise her driving and iron play.

Since the golf courses reopened earlier this week Molly is already striking the ball in awesome fashion preparing for when the 2020 tournaments eventually start.

Molly is an outstanding young talent with a very bright future. She already hits her driver an average of over 200 yards and is improving all the time as she grows, gets stronger and dedicates her time to practising. She can back this up with superb iron play and putting which always stands her in good stead whenever ever she is on the golf course.

One of the major tournaments that Molly had qualified for in 2020 (which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus) was the US Kids European Championship, in Scotland on 26 May. The ‘Champion of Champions’ Event that was due to have been held in Ireland during the Easter Holidays has also been rescheduled.

Molly Campbell uses Taylor-Made golf clubs and works with her Sponsor, McDonalds, her Coach Danny Bursztyn of Golf Lessons Nottingham and is promoted by the 135 Not Out management team
