Wards Estate Agents Help Fill The Community Cupboard Shelves

Sevenoaks food bank The Community Cupboard has received £13,500 from the Wards Emergency Support Fund.

The Wards Emergency Support Fund, administered by Kent Community Foundation on behalf of Wards Estate Agents, has helped food banks across the county. One of the recipients of this new funding is the charity The Community Cupboard in Sevenoaks.

Having transformed a previously disused building in London Road, West Kingsdown, the charity operates a welcoming hub where people can receive food along with information about other services that are available. The Community Cupboard has received grants totalling £13,500 from the Wards Emergency Support Fund to help ensure there are enough supplies to meet increasing demand during the cost-of-living crisis.

The fund from the Kent estate agents, who have a branch located in the same village as The Community Cupboard, was created as a result of a county-wide pledge that for every new property valued, £100 would be donated to local food banks via grant-makers Kent Community Foundation. Thanks to the campaign, £270,000 from The Wards Emergency Support Fund has been awarded to alleviate some of the pressure on food banks in Kent this winter.

Aldo Sotgiu, Managing Director of Wards Estate Agents said, “The ability to give back and support those who need it most is a huge part of who we are and the values we represent at Wards Estate Agents. Right now, many people are struggling right across the county and we have always been focused on helping our local communities in the best way we can.”

Tracy Wood, Manager at The Community Cupboard commented, “Our ethos has always been that everyone needs a little help sometimes and we want to make sure that the support we provide allows people to retain their dignity when they come to us for help. We are facing an increasing demand from families who regularly have no food to put on the table and are delighted that Wards Estate Agents has provided support at this crucial time.”
