Grants from Kent Community Foundation will allow communities across Kent to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
In January Buckingham Palace announced that The King and The Queen hoped the Coronation Weekend would provide an opportunity to spend time and celebrate with friends, families and communities. Kent Community Foundation was delighted to award funding to charities and community groups across Kent who wanted to celebrate this historic occasion.
One organisation that Kent Community Foundation funded was Evergreen Care UK.
Evergreen Care UK who offer a safe and friendly place for isolated elderly people to make new friends, have a light meal, enjoy organised events and get help and advice, received funding to expand their companionship service, Elderberries, into Dartford. The grant of £5,000 will allow a weekly centre, styled as a vintage tea room, to open in Wilmington Community Church. The weekly activities will include digital awareness, online learning, money matters, games, quizzes, bingo, art therapy, pet therapy, yoga, aerobics, gardening, arts and crafts and there are special plans to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.
Jacqueline Lyon, Elderberries, Event Manager said, “We are very excited with the plans for our Elderberries “Celebration Cream Tea” King’s Coronation Event taking place on Monday 8 May. There will be lots of culinary delights, music, quizzes and a raffle, as well as screening from some of the footage of the Coronation. Each of our guests will receive a small gift to remember the day and we hope it will be a day of fellowship, hearts being lifted in joy with the buzz of good conversations and making lasting memories.”

Evergreen Care UK is a very valuable asset for the older population of Kent and as one of our funding priorities is for projects supporting the elderly we were keen to fund their new venue in Wilmington which will expand their important companionship service into the Dartford area.”
