ChannelPorts Limited Open a Community Fund with Kent Community Foundation

After supporting grass root charities for some time by making regular donations to experienced grant makers Kent Community Foundation, Hythe based ChannelPorts Limited has decided to set up their own philanthropic fund.

The new philanthropic fund will be known as the ‘ChannelPorts Community Fund’ and will award grants to small charities and community groups that operate within Kent Community Foundation’s five funding priorities: Children, Young People & Families, Vulnerable Adults, Elderly & Isolated, Employability Skills & Enterprise and Environment.

Emma Spring, HR Manager, ChannelPorts said, “ChannelPorts has been regularly supporting grass root charities through Kent Community Foundation since 2019. In that time, we have donated over £65,000 to support their grant making and are thrilled to open the ChannelPorts Community Fund with a further donation of £38,000.  The Kent Community Foundation team will direct our funding to grassroots organisations working within their five priority areas of need and we look forward to seeing the impact grants from our fund will make across the county.”

Josephine McCartney, Chief Executive, Kent Community Foundation said, “Kent Community Foundation has been finding, funding, and supporting some of the smallest voluntary organisations in the county for over twenty one years. To do this we rely on the generosity of individuals, families, and businesses, who open funds with us to support small, local grassroots projects working with the most disadvantaged and isolated within our communities. ChannelPorts has been making regular donations since 2019 and we are delighted that they have chosen to open their own discretionary fund with Kent Community Foundation which will allow us to help even more vulnerable people across Kent.”

The ChannelPorts Community Fund will award average grants of £4,500 to small charities and deserving causes where a modest sum of money can make a significant impact. Awards will be made quarterly with the first grants expected to be made in October.
