Jean said Small Steps Count – Every little effort matters. Celebrate each tiny victory along the way, because progress, no matter how small, adds up over time.

Joan advised Keep Your Friends Close – Surround yourself with people who lift you up and make life brighter. Nurture relationships that bring joy, laughter, and support.

Albert advised The Most Important is Family – Treasure the moments with those you love. Family is your anchor, offering connection, comfort, and a reminder of what truly matters.

Tony wants you to Believe in Yourself – Trust your abilities and have confidence in the path you choose. Self-belief gives you the courage to face challenges and take meaningful steps forward.

Charles suggests Never Give Up – Challenges are stepping stones, not roadblocks. Resilience turns obstacles into opportunities, helping you grow stronger with every setback.

Sue asks that you Smile Every Day – Find joy in the ordinary. A smile, even in small moments, can brighten your day and the days of those around you.

Louis reminds us that You Can Always Start Again – It’s never too late to begin anew. Every ending opens the door to something fresh, giving you the chance to try again and grow.

The residents’ advice reflects their optimism, resilience, and wisdom, offering inspiration for the wider community as we head into the new year.

The Clacton home provides a vibrant activities programme that supports residents’ wellbeing and engagement. Highlights include arts and crafts sessions, fitness classes, singing, a pop-up shop, and regular visits from the local community and joint ventures with other care homes. These activities encourage residents to stay active, social and creative, embodying the very principles they have shared for a fulfilling year.

David McGuire, Chief Executive, Diagrama Foundation which runs the Edensor nursing and dementia care centre in Clacton said: “Residents’ insights remind us all that a meaningful life isn’t measured by material success, but by small steps, strong relationships, and a positive outlook. We hope their advice inspires families, staff, and the wider community as we begin 2026.”
