Edensor Care Home Holds Summer Fete in Clacton

On 16 August the Edensor Care Home in Clacton on Sea held its annual fete.

For the last eleven years, Edensor, Diagrama Foundation’s Care Home in Clacton has held  a summer fete for residents and their families.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the care team at Edensor was delighted to be able to put on their fete once again. The charity care team and residents worked together  to plan the  much-loved event with residents spending time making decorations and helping to set up the games including hoopla, chair basketball  and hook a duck.

Mo Neeliyath, Edensor Care Manager, said, “The fete opened at  11 am with  games in the garden and the car park,  followed by a BBQ and  entertainment by local singer Tony.  After what seems like weeks of  unbroken sunshine, it was a little disappointing that the weather broke today,  and we had our fair share of rain. Unfortunately, the rain meant we had to dash inside for our entertainment and to eat the delicious food from the BBQ,  but everyone still thoroughly enjoyed themselves and nothing was going to dampen our spirits. Even Dave, our care home cat, wandered through to have a look at what everyone was doing.”

Edensor resident, Joseph Kenney (pictured right) said “The food was lovely and there was lots of it!”

Edensor resident, Patricia Hearn (pictured left) said,  “We had a very nice fun filled day thanks to all the staff who organised this great event.”

Mo continued, “As a charity run care home events like this are so important and  the £200 that we raised on the day will be added to the  Edensor activity fund which allows us to book entertainment and activities throughout the year for our residents who include those living with dementia.  Of course, we must say a  huge thank you to everyone who came to support the event and to those who donated such fabulous raffle prizes, including an Amazon Kindle, a smart watch, flowers and plants from St Johns Garden Centre, a meal at  Buffalo  Restaurant and a hamper that the residents and staff made.”
